District Churches Helping District Churches

Fourth of July 2015 did a bang up job on all the roofs in Havre, Montana as a severe hail and wind storm blew through just as spectators were setting up for the fireworks show. Most every  and vehicle in town had hail damage.
Coach Carr and James Johnson volunteered their services to tack down a new roof. Before they came a crew need to be assembled to tear off the existing roof. Currently the congregation meeting for Hi-Line Nazarene has more children than adults. Pastor Chad reached out to people in the community to see who might be able to come over on a Saturday to peel shingles.
First to show up was Luke a Border Patrol chaplain who could give a couple hours after getting off the night shift. Then  Marty, who currently grows gourmet organic garlic and his wife Judge Audrey Barger dig in with their shovels. Next, Mark our northern Montana CASA director pitches in. Josh a railroad engineer carried his 6'4" frame up the ladders. Scott, a Department of Agriculture scientist started of by getting the shingles to the dumpster. John and his son Arden were able to give a hand before heading back to the ranch were he is the manager. Of course nurse Mary McKenzie and children got their hands dirty loading tarps, old trampoline cloth and snow sleds with debris headed for the red dumpster down the hill. With all the help the crew was done with the first layer of shingles before lunch.
It was great to have so many friends pitch in for the project. This news letter doesn't have space to share how we met each person but I can say for all it was not the first time we shared work and likely will not be the last.
